Missy's Collar
When
I was 5 or 6 years old, I had a dog named Missy. She had a purple collar. The collar
has a red name tag in the shape of a heart. On the heart it has her name in
white letters and my dad’s phone number on it. Although it is barely noticeable,
the red around the heart has started to wear off and is now silver.
I
kept this because it’s the only thing that reminds me of Missy. Missy was a puppy,
a Siberian husky with light blue eyes. I remember putting on her collar when I went
to walk her. She hated her collar, like all other dogs usually do. She would
often try to bite it off.
We
had to put Missy to sleep because she was paralyzed and could not move or even
eat. Now my new dog sometimes wears the collar. The collar makes noise when she
walks so that now we know where she is in the house. It sounds like when you
shake keys or like a small bell.
